Thunderbirds Rugby Football Club have confirmed their withdrawal from this year’s Uganda Cup citing player welfare and availability concerns.

In an official statement released on Friday, the club said the decision followed extensive internal consultations. The management noted that a number of their players are currently injured, fatigued, or engaged in academic examinations during the Uganda Cup period.

The club also revealed that several of their players have been called up to the national team ahead of the 2025 Women’s Rugby Africa Cup Sevens scheduled for next month in Kenya, leaving them unavailable for club duty.
